Due to a renovation project, the Mont Blanc tunnel was closed this month. The reconstruction works will continue for 15 weeks, meaning that the tunnel should be reopened on December 16th, 5 p.m. Since the tunnel is going to be fully closed, drivers are advised to use alternative roads shown in the image below.

The tunnel subscription cards of all drivers will be automatically extended by four months. Although one of the suggested alternative routes is the Frejus tunnel, it is important to note that drivers will be facing new restrictions there as well. On September 12th, 16-20th, and 23-27th, during the nighttime period, the alternating traffic system will be in place. The alternations will occur according to this schedule:
| Direction | Opening | Closing |
| From France to Italy | 22:30 | 0:00 |
| 0:45 | 1:45 | |
| 2:15 | 3:15 | |
| 3:45 | 4:45 | |
| From Italy to France | 22:30 | 23:00 |
| 23:45 | 1:00 | |
| 1:30 | 2:30 | |
| 3:00 | 4:00 | |
| 4:15 | 4:45 |
On September 13th and 14th from midnight to 1 a.m. and from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. the tunnel will be closed completely.
