Higher road tolls in Austria, France, and Poland

As inflation is on the rise and energy and fuel prices in Europe are constantly increasing, some countries are planning to increase road tolls. Starting from 2023, Austria, France, and Poland will increase their road tolls for all truck categories.

In Austria, road taxes will be higher for all trucks starting from the beginning of next year. Road tolls for EURO VI category vehicles will increase by 4%. Taxes for all other EURO categories will increase from 2.29% to 2.8%.

Starting from February, motorway tolls in France will increase by around 4.75%. However, drivers who use certain roads very frequently will be eligible for a discount of 40% (the current discount for these individuals stands at 30%). France is also planning to implement similar discounts for electric vehicles.

From the beginning of next year, higher road tolls will also apply in Poland. They will apply to all vehicles that weigh more than 3,5t. The highest taxes will apply to vehicles in the lowest EURO category, but even environmentally friendly trucks will face higher taxes than before. Prices per kilometer will be as follows:
