Since June 2nd, dock workers’ and farmers’ protests have been taking place in France. These strikes are expected to continue until the end of June. The protests have included several blockades, resulting in traffic jams on important roads and longer waiting times at ports.
By the end of the month, four 24-hour blockades and twenty-two 4-hour blockades are expected to take place in France. Waiting times at port terminals are already considerably longer due to the slower unloading and loading of containers. Traffic jams are expected on the A9 and A63 motorways. The use of the RD934 in the cities of Gère-Bélesten and Laruns is currently prohibited in an attempt to mitigate the negative impact of the protests. Traffic disruptions have also been observed on the French border with Spain. If more blockades will be enforced in the coming weeks, drivers can expect to be forced to use alternative roads to complete their journeys.
