Road bans in Europe in February 2023

In February 2023, most road restrictions will be implemented on Saturdays and Sundays. However, some European countries will be imposing additional truck bans due to public holidays. In this article, we provide a list of countries and dates on which road bans for heavy vehicles in Europe are going to be implemented.

February 2nd, Thursday

In Liechtenstein, road restrictions will apply throughout the entire day. They will apply to vehicles weighing more than 3,5t.

February 8th, Wednesday

In Slovenia, road restrictions will apply from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.

On Saturdays (February 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th)

Saturday bans apply in the following countries:

  • in Austria from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. on A12 and A13 motorways if you’re traveling towards Italy or Germany and from 3 p.m. until midnight,
  • in France from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. for vehicles that weigh more than 7,5t (except for the Rhône-Alpes region) and from 10 p.m. until midnight,
  • in Hungary from 10 p.m. until midnight (this prohibition does not apply to trucks of EURO 3 and higher categories operating in the international transport sector),
  • in Luxembourg from 11.30 p.m. to midnight for those heading towards Germany and from 21.30 to midnight for those heading towards France.

On Sundays (February 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th)

Sunday bans apply in the following countries:

  • in Austria, France, Germany, and Slovakia from midnight until 10 p.m.,
  • in the Czech Republic from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m.,
  • in Italy from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m.,
  • in Luxembourg from midnight until 9.45 p.m.,
  • in Switzerland and Liechtenstein throughout the entire day,
  • in Slovenia from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.,
  • in Hungary from midnight to 10 p.m. (this ban does not apply to trucks of EURO 3 and higher categories operating in the international transport sector).
