Road bans in Europe in June 2023

Due to upcoming public holidays and summer celebrations, many European countries are planning to introduce additional road bans in the month of June. In particular, many new restrictions will be introduced in Romania, Croatia, and Greece. In this article, we provide a complete list of countries and dates during which road restrictions for trucks will be implemented in Europe.

June 1, Thursday

Road bans in Romania will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

June 2, Friday

  • In Austria, road bans will be in place on the Inntal A12 and Brener A13 motorways and will apply to drivers going to Italy. These restrictions will apply from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m.
  • In Greece, road bans will apply to vehicles weighing more than 3.5t and will be in effect from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • In Italy, bans will apply from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.

June 3, Saturday

On June 3rd the usual Saturday restrictions will be in effect (see below), but additional restrictions will be implemented in Greece and Romania:

  • In Greece, bans will apply from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
  • In Romania, bans will apply from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on the DN7 road and from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on the A2 road.

June 4, Sunday

On June 4th the usual Sunday restrictions will be in effect (see below), but additional restrictions will be introduced in Romania - they will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

June 5, Monday

  • Road bans in Greece will be in effect from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m.
  • Road bans in Romania will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

June 7, Wednesday

  • Road bans in Croatia will be in effect from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m.
  • Road bans in Poland will be in effect from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

June 8, Thursday

  • Road bans in Austria will be in effect from midnight to 10 p.m.
  • Road bans in Croatia will be in effect from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m.
  • Road bans in Luxembourg will be in place from midnight to 9:45 p.m. for those driving towards Germany.
  • Road bans in Germany will be in effect from midnight to 10 p.m. They will only be valid in the following areas: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
  • Road bans in Poland will be in effect from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
  • Road bans in Liechtenstein will be in place throughout the entire day.

June 16, Friday

Road bans in Greece will be in effect from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.

June 21, Wednesday

Road bans in Croatia will be in effect from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m.

June 22, Thursday

Road bans in Croatia will be in effect from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m.

June 23, Friday

  • Road bans in Croatia will be in effect from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.
  • Road bans in Poland will be in effect from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

June 30, Friday

  • Road bans in Croatia will be in effect from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.
  • Road bans in Poland will be in effect from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

On Saturdays (June 3, 10, 17, 24)

In June Saturday road bans will be in effect in the following countries:

  • In Austria from 3 p.m. until midnight.
  • In France from 10 p.m. until midnight.
  • In Hungary from 10 p.m. until midnight (this does not apply to trucks of EURO 3 and higher categories operating in the international transport sector).
  • In Luxembourg from 9.30 p.m. until midnight for those heading towards France and from 11.30 p.m. until midnight for those heading towards Germany.

Additionally, on June 17th a ban that will last from 4 a.m. until 2 p.m. will be implemented in Croatia.

On June 24th additional bans will be implemented in the following countries:

  • In Croatia from 4 a.m. until 2 p.m.
  • In Slovenia from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m.

On Sundays (June 4, 11, 18, 25)

In June Sunday road bans will be in effect in the following countries:

  • In Austria, Germany, and Slovakia from midnight to 10 p.m.,
  • In the Czech Republic from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m.,
  • In Italy from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.,
  • In Luxembourg from midnight to 9:45 p.m.,
  • In Liechtenstein and Switzerland throughout the entire day,
  • In Slovenia from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.,
  • In Hungary from midnight to 10 p.m. (this ban does not apply to trucks of EURO 3 and higher categories operating in the international transport sector).

Additional bans will be implemented on June 18th and the 25th in Greece – they will apply from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on roads A1, A5, A7, A8, A11 and A71 and from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m.
