The European Road Policing Organisation (ROADPOL) has announced the dates for enhanced inspections of heavy vehicles in 2025. They will include technical checks of trucks and buses, cargo and drivers' tachographs. The focus will also be placed on checking drivers' compliance with driving and rest time laws.
The aim of the checks is to ensure the safety of European roads. In 2024, 228,389 trucks were checked in Europe during one inspection session. During this inspection, as many as 69,749 infringements were detected, which means that 1 in 4 trucks did not meet the expected standards. The inspections also take into account the physical condition of the drivers and whether they have all the necessary documents to transport goods in Europe. They also check whether there have been any breaches of the usual driving rules, such as speeding.
Intensified checks will be carried out three times in 2025, with each inspection period lasting one week. These checks will take place in February, May and November on the dates indicated:
17 - 23 February,
5 - 11 May,
17 - 23 November.
