Summer restrictions in the European Union

This summer many European Union member states are implementing additional traffic restrictions for trucks. The list of countries implementing such changes and all the needed information is provided below.

Austria 

From July 9th until September 11th traffic bans will apply on the roads in the cities of Innsbruck, Kufstein and Reutte. These restrictions will not apply to vehicles that are coming from the restricted areas. Starting from July Austria is also implementing additional summer restrictions that take place on Saturdays. Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic traffic restrictions will apply to vehicles that weigh more than 7.5t. These restrictions will take place on weekends and will be in force from July 1st until August 31st:

  • On Fridays from 5PM until 9PM,
  • On Saturdays from 7AM until 1PM,
  • On Sundays and holidays from 1PM until 10PM.

Italy

Despite current traffic bans that are in place on Sundays, Italy is implementing additional restrictions that will be in force on Fridays and Saturdays:

Poland 

Restrictions in Poland apply to all trucks that weigh more than 12t. These restrictions apply on weekends and are in force from June 24th until August 28th:

  • On Fridays from 6PM until 10PM,
  • On Saturdays from 8AM until 2PM,
  • On Sundays from 8AM until 10PM.

France

Starting from the middle of July, restrictions for trucks will apply on Saturdays:

Slovakia

In Slovakia restrictions will apply on all Saturdays starting from July 1st up until August 31st and will be in force from 7AM until 7PM. These restrictions will apply for trucks weighing more than 7.5t. However, these bans will not apply on motorways and roads that start in neighboring countries and lead to Slovakia.

Hungary

In Hungary traffic restrictions will apply for trucks weighing more than 7.5t. These restrictions will take place on weekends and will be in force from July 1st until August 31st:

  • From 3PM on Saturdays until 10PM on Sundays,
  • During public holidays, starting from 10PM on the eve of the public holiday and throughout the holiday itself.

Restrictions apply on these roads:

  • M7 motorway,
  • 2A main road,
  • Roads no. 2, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 33, 55, 86, 1201,
  • On road no. 37 starting from intersection with road no. 38 ending at intersection with road no. 37,
  • On road no. 51 starting from intersection with road no. 510,
  • On road no. 76 between the intersection of roads no. 71 and no. 7 and intersection between Zalaapati and no. 71,
  • On road no. 82 from no. 8 up until Veszpremvarsany,
  • On road no. 84 from Sümeg until no. 71.

Germany

In Germany restrictions will apply on all Saturdays from 7AM until 8PM on specific highways, the list of which can be found here. These restrictions will be in place from July 1st until August 31st and will apply to all trucks weighing more than 7.5t and those that carry trailers for commercial transport of products.
